Data protection and privacy are really important to us, so we wanted to set out in this privacy policy how we use and protect all information you give Brain Candy Limited when you use this website or our services.

We at Brain Candy Limited are committed to ensuring that your privacy is protected, so we have reviewed our current data collection and retention policy in line with General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) (EU) 2016.  If you are a customer or user of our services or assessments, then we will most likely have your data stored in a number of places for the purposes of invoicing, paying bills and delivering projects. This page also relates specifically to candidates’ details who may take our assessments, where we keep information about them on our assessment database.

Should we ask you or one of our customers who provide certain information by which you can be identified when using this website or our services, then you can be assured that it will only be used under this privacy statement. We believe the following statement will provide an overview of what we promise to deliver.

Brain Candy Limited may change this policy from time to time by updating this page. You should check this page to ensure that you are happy with any changes. This policy is effective from 24th May 2018.

What we collect

We may collect the following information:

  • name and job title
  • contact information including email address
  • demographic information such as postcode, preferences and interests
  • other information relevant to customer surveys and/or offers

We also use MailChimp as our automated marketing platform. By signing up for our newsletter, this is an acknowledgement that the information provided can be transferred to MailChimp for processing in accordance with their Privacy Policy and Terms.

What we do with the information we gather

We gather the information you have sent us via this website.  We use the information you provide us to offer you a better service. We also use this information for the following reasons:

  • Internal record keeping.
  • We may use the information to improve our products and services.
  • We may periodically send promotional emails about new products, special offers or other information which we think you may find interesting using the email address you have provided.
  • From time to time, we may also use your information to contact you for market research purposes. We may contact you by email or phone. We may use the information to customise the website according to your interests.

We may also hold information about you from the company you have subscribed to or work for that uses Brain Candy assessments. If this is the case, please be rest-assured, we will not have access to this information in any shape or form.


We are committed to ensuring the information you provide us is secure. To prevent unauthorised access or disclosure, we have put in place suitable physical, electronic and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect online. We use 128-bit industry standard Secure Server Software (SSL) for information we collect and have securely encrypted databases to encrypt all personal data.

If one of our customers adds information that relates to you in one of our assessments, as this information is encrypted, we will not be able to view or access the information. 

How we use cookies

A cookie is a small file which asks permission to be placed on your computer’s hard drive. Once you agree, the file is added and the cookie helps analyse web traffic or lets you know when you visit a particular site. Cookies allow web applications to respond to you as an individual. The web application can tailor its operations to your needs, likes and dislikes by gathering and remembering information about your preferences.

We use traffic log cookies to identify which pages are being used. This helps us analyse data about web page traffic and improve our website in order to tailor it to customer needs. We only use this information for statistical analysis purposes and then the data is removed from the system.

Overall, cookies help us provide you with a better website, by enabling us to monitor which pages you find useful and which you do not. A cookie in no way gives us access to your computer or any information about you, other than the data you choose to share with us.

Controlling your personal information

You may choose to restrict the collection or use of your personal information in the following ways:

  •  whenever you are asked to fill in a form on the website, please indicate that you do not want marketing information sent to you
  • if you have previously agreed to us using your personal information for direct marketing purposes, you may change your mind at any time by emailing our Data Protection Officer at support@brain-candy.co.uk
  • You can also unsubscribe to any of our mailings anytime.

We will not sell, distribute or lease your personal information to third parties unless we have your permission or are required by law to do so. We may use your personal information to send you promotional information about third parties which we think you may find interesting if you tell us that you wish this to happen.

You may request details of personal information which we hold about you under the GDPR. If you would like a copy of the information we hold on you, please email our Data Protection Officer support@brain-candy.co.uk. However, if you have taken one of our assessments via a company you have subscribed to or work for, you will need to contact the administrator of that company to request your personal information. If you don’t know who this is, then please do contact us.

If you believe that any information we are holding on you is incorrect or incomplete, please write to or email us as soon as possible, at the above address. We will promptly correct any information found to be incorrect.

Keeping your information

While we do keep your information, our customers also keep information on you via the encrypted databases for our assessment. If we have information on you that Brain Candy uses, we will hold this information for six years.  After this time, we will delete all information we have about you.  If you request information we hold on you to be deleted, then do, please email us.  If one of our customers holds information on you, then we will keep this information for them for six years as well, unless you request they remove your information from the assessment they have used.
